Manatee High wins 5th state title in blowout win

ORLANDO, Fla. – In what could only be described as a dominating performance, Bradenton’s Manatee Hurricanes ran over the First Coast Buccaneers 40-0 in Friday night to win their 5th state title.The Hurricanes totally controlled the game in every facet to get the shutout win.Manatee put up 429 yards in an evenly balanced attacked that produced four touchdowns, the defense held First Coast to just 108 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers, and even special teams contributed with a blocked punt that was recovered for a touchdown.Quarterback Cord Sandberg completed 13 of 17 passes for 180 yard and a touchdown, and led the team in rushing with 78 yards and a leaping touchdown in the 1st quarter.A wide open Anthony Lauro caught a 44-yard TD pass in the 2nd quarter and later ran one in from 10 yards.
