St. Armands Circle may build parking garage

This week the Sarasota City Commission decided to examine the feasibility of a parking garage near the St. Armands Circle fire station. The commissioners wanted to add the parking garage as part of its two-year goals.
According to commissioners, merchants say there is a need for a garage and are willing to pay for it with a special assessment tax. The feasibility study will include having sketches drawn and determining a cost, says the commission, and a multimillion-dollar garage, could be funded by a combination of merchant special-assessment taxes and parking-meter revenue.
