Cans of Enfamil Newborn powder are being pulled from shelves at Walmart stores nationwide, after a baby in the Midwest became gravely ill and died after drinking the formula, CBS News reports.
The Missouri newborn is believed to have developed an infection from bacteria that may have been in the formula.
Manufacturer Mead Johnson Nutrition said that its records show that the bacterium was not in the batch of formula, and no government recall has been ordered.
The 12.5-ounce cans of Enfamil Newborn powder have the lot number ZP1K7G.
According to CBS, Walmart spokeswoman Dianna Gee said that the company decided to pull the lot "out of an abundance of caution" while CDC and FDA officials investigate Sunday's death of 10-day-old Avery
