The Week Ahead: Celebrating, Measuring The Arts Impact In Sarasota

1. The Van Wezel will host two important events celebrating the arts this week.
First up is the 14th Annual Awards Celebration by the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. It's free to attend.
The evening celebration brings together the arts and cultural community to recognize grant recipients, award winners and leading advocates for arts and culture. Special performances will be by Asolo Repertory Theatre, Fuzion Dance Artists, Jazz Juvenocracy, and Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe.
Joey Panek, Sarasota arts renaissance man and host of The Art Whisperer, will be the master of ceremonies.
2. Also at the Van Wezel is a luncheon event on the economic impact of the arts in Sarasota from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Randy Cohen of Americans for the Arts will be the keynote speaker.
