Siesta Key Tragedy Reignites Alcohol on the Beach Debate
Less than an hour after a friend was arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication at the Siesta Key Beach Pavilion, two heavily-intoxicated young men got into a vehicle, eventually striking and killing a mother of three who had been out for a jog. The issue has sparked debate over the actions of the police in not further detaining the other two, as well as Siesta's policy regarding the public consumption of alcohol – a debate Manatee County is quite familiar
