Manatee teachers walk to show support

MANATEE COUNTY--They started strong and they started early."The goal is to show our students and our community that we care about them and are here for them no matter what," said Starloe Galletta a teacher from Manatee County.Teachers from Manatee County, along with parents and students, began a 12 mile walk this morning. The trek started at Palmetto Head Start and ended at USF Sarasota-Manatee."This is to show our students and our community that we love them and we're going to be here even if we're down to flip flops we'll be coming to work and doing our job," said Galletta.Teachers like her fear that recent talks of pay cuts and corporate takeovers of schools could make their jobs much more difficult."The teacher evaluation systems have not been defined nor funded by the state, the state has not provided an adequate amount of funding
