SPD: Arrive Early At Grand Prix Super Boat Race Or Stay Home

The message from Sarasota Police Department is simple about viewing the Grand Prix Super Boat races: arrive early or stay home.
And if you don't, expect plenty of headaches.
Tropical Storm Debby is still leaving lingering effects on Lido Key and Lido Beach that will serve as problematic for both getting to, parking at and viewing the event for some. The race has two heats at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Most notably, the severe beach erosion along the beaches has decreased the spectator viewing area, according to the police. In some areas, that leaves a narrow line for spectators to set up as part of the beach is roped off to allow ATVs and emergency vehicles to access the beach safely.
One area that's significantly damaged, according to the SPD, is the front of the Lido Beach Pavilion becah area.
