Watchdog Jumps into School Board Race

BRADENTON – Longtime educational activist and frequent political candidate Dave “Watchdog” Miner has thrown his hat into the ring and entered the District 2 Manatee County School Board race. In a press release sent out Friday, Miner said that while he doesn't necessarily disagree with what he understands to be the platforms of the two candidates already in the race, he's not convinced that they can offer voters the same experience and dedication that he could. Miner has run for school board before and in 2010 lost the Republican primary to incumbent state rep. Jim Boyd, who had amassed an enormous fundraising advantage. The local attorney will join Manatee County teachers Robert Moates (Lakewood Ranch High) and William Chaltis (Palmetto High), who joined the race earlier this month, in a race to replace retiring chair Harry
