Five Things: Today's the Day for Republicans

1. If you're one of Sarasota County's 120,035 registered Republicans, today's the day to choose your preference for your party's presidential nominee. 2. Something to consider about today's election: Sarasota is considered one of Florida's three bellwether counties by a Suffolk University poll — meaning as the county goes, so does the state. With that, Mitt Romney topped Newt Gingrich in Sarasota County, according to Suffolk's poll, 52 percent to 24 percent. Martin and Volusia counties are the other bellwether counties.
