Carolina Panthers to train in Bradenton for a week

BRADENTON – Cam Newton, the 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowl quarterback, will be spending a week in Bradenton with his team the Carolina Panthers in September as they prepare to open the season against Tampa Bay.IMG Academies in Bradenton announced Friday that they will host the Panthers leading up to their season opening game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 9th.The Democratic National Convention is being held in Charlotte that week, and the Panthers requested a road game for the opener. "We researched places on the West Coast, Midwest and East Coast in anticipation of the 2012 schedule release," said Panthers GM Marty Hurney.
