Flags In Florida At Half-Staff For Neil Armstrong

The first man on the moon will be honored in Florida today by having all flags lowered half-staff across the state.
Gov. Rick Scott directed that all flags would be lowered to half-staff Friday for Neil Armstrong. The retired astronaut had died Aug. 25 at the age of 82.
It was on the Apollo 11 mission when on July 21, 1969, he famously said, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind," while he trekked across the lunar surface. Though the world never heard "a man" and instead "man," according to Armstrong, due to early broadcast technology, and was later verified using digital technology in 2006.
That mission was launched at Cape Canaveral on Florida's Space Coast setting off decades of inspirational moments in space exploration.
