Should Food Trucks Be Allowed In Siesta Key Village?

It was going to happen sooner or later, but the first bottle of ketchup has been hurled between brick-and-mortar businesses and food trucks in Sarasota.
Siesta Key Village Association, Siesta Key Association and the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce all claim they have a hot dog in this food fight, requesting that the County Commission deny a permit request for Gumbo Mojo to operate their food truck for one year at Canal Road and Calle Menorca, the Observer reports.
The commission will review the request Tuesday morning at its meeting at the Sarasota County Administration Building.
The three Siesta Key organizations don't just want Gumbo Mojo banned—they want all street vendors gone, which would include hot dog carts, the Herald-Tribune reports:
