The Week Ahead: Downtown Noise Ordinance Up For Discussion

1. Advocates for downtown live music will have their chance to make their case during a community workshop on the city's noise ordinance and live music downtown.
The meeting will be in a community workshop format and will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday at the SRQ TV Studio inside the City Hall Annex.
The city's downtown core sound ordinance regulates outdoor amplified sound (i.e. music) by banning it between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. and between 11:59 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday nights and nights before a federal holiday.
And when the music plays, it has to be lower than 65 dBA, 70 dBC, and then it gets complicated when it deals with duration, proximity to residences and other measures.
2. Halloween is in full gear with all the events going on. Check out the Top Sarasota Halloween Events plus our calendar for more events as well.
