Residents of a duplex at 223 23rd Street East were left homeless Friday, when fire caused extensive damage to one of the units. The Bradenton Fire Department was on the scene in four minutes after a call came in at 10:20 a.m. about flames and smoke at the duplex.
It took a dozen firefighters, two engines and two ladder trucks to put out the blaze. There were no injures.
The city has determined that there was such extensive damage to the duplex that no one can stay there. The residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross, which is finding temporary shelter for them. The cause of fire is under
