Donald Trump is still scheduled to appear at the Statesman of the Year award dinner Sunday evening, according to the Republican Party of Sarasota County.
The sold-out event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota, as the eye of the storm will be over the Florida Keys, but its reach will extend well into Florida as the system rotates.
“This is one of the largest crowds ever to come together for a dinner in the history of Sarasota and one of the largest ticketed events during the entire Convention week, and the event will go on as planned," Sarasota GOP Chairman Joe Gruters said in a statement.
