Rehabilitated loggerhead turtle released off Anna Maria Island
ANNA MARIA ISLAND -- People on the shores of Anna Maria Island were witness to a rebirth of sorts on Tuesday as the Florida Aquarium released an adult loggerhead turtle back into the Gulf of Mexico. The turtle recently completed a five-month rehab stint at the aquarium, and appeared healthy and ready for life back in the open waters. He posed for a few pictures from eager photographers and was cheered on by members of the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch before easing into the surf and swimming
