Hoax on Botany Avenue May Be SWATing Prank

A 21st Century version of a prank call called SWATing is upping the ante in both pranks and punishment, and authorities say they believe Sarasota is the latest victim.
Sarasota residents in the 2600 block of Botany Avenue saw a scene unfold Sunday where the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office SWAT team reported to a home after a call to the sheriff's office non-emergency line. Homes even had to be evacuated, The Herald-Tribune reported.
A man at the home was carried out in handcuffs, but it was all a twisted hoax picking on those residents, the sheriff's office said
