County sheriff requests money for pay raises

MANATEE COUNTY- Sheriff Brad Steube is asking the county for more than $5 million so his deputies can receive a well deserved pay raise. It's something they haven't seen in about five years."These are folks that work hard each and everyday," Steube said. "These are folks that have been able to get a decrease in crime almost every year for the last five years."At a county commission meeting on Thursday, Steube made the request. He informed commissioners that because of the low pay his deputies receive, 40 of them have resigned this past year alone.
