The plan for the new Publix

Very few people would argue that the current Publix on Longboat Key needs to be bigger and better and that the entire shopping plaza needs a facelift.
From its inception when the town fathers insisted that a Publix on the key had to be smaller than their other stores because otherwise “it might draw customers from off the island,” this store never was able to replicate the services that the chain provided in their other facilities.
In addition to these restrictions, the layout of the entire project was flawed. The stores in the back were almost invisible and were never able to take advantage of the traffic that a major supermarket provides.
The same problem existed for the businesses located in the Avenue of the Flowers, which left them looking out on a dark passageway. I believe
