Suncoast technology students clean up at awards ceremony
BRADENTON – The Academy Award winners in Hollywood Sunday night have nothing on some technology students in Manatee County. More than 325 Manatee County technology students have just returned from the state technology conference in Amelia Island, and they were loaded down with trophies.Manatee County schools really swept those state technology awards. They came home with 114 top 3 finishes.Southeast High won the high school championship, and Nolan Middle School was named the first place overall middle school winner."This conference had over a thousand kids, and our chapter took home the top honors with the number one chapter award," says Southeast student Tyler Waid.They'd been working on their projects all school year -- mostly on their own time outside of school -- and it all paid off.
